Smokey And The Bandwidth
A blog about trucking
I came up with the name Smokey And The Bandwidth awhile back when I was thinking up funny and catchy names for an online community that I was building. I had decided to have a competition to name the site, and this was one of the names that I had come up with that didn't win. I liked the name, however, and after letting it sit for awhile, I decided to put it to good use. As a fan of the movie Smokey and the Bandit, I obviously mean no disrespect. I just think it is a good way to pay homage to the old school trucking while blogging our way forward into the new era.
This site will largely be a photo blog showing pictures of some of the beautiful rigs out here on the open road, and some of the great places I go trucking to. We will feature some of the better truck stops out here that I frequent along the way as well.
Occasionally, I will post a rant or two here, or respond to any feedback I get from my readers. But in large part, this will just be a picture tour of the trucking world.
My name is Steve Parry. I have been blogging and building websites for a few years now. You can find my political articles at The Axis of Stevil Show and my community for truckers at Party Row.
I am a lease contractor with Prime Inc., and my truck will be featured on this site regularly. I have a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia that is yellow with a huge Miami Dolphins logo on the hood. The posting of my truck on this blog obviously does not mean nor in any way imply that this site is in any way associated with Prime Inc. It is rather a personal blog.
I travel all over the United States, although I am typically east of the Mississippi. I hope you enjoy my postings from around the country. Perhaps I can introduce you to some places that you have never seen before, or if you are a fellow driver, maybe I will remind you of some of the great stops along the way.
A special thanks to all of the drivers who have allowed me to photograph and feature their trucks here on the site.
